In the Stillness of Time

JMS Mani – Charcoal Painting on Paper

This evocative charcoal painting by JMS Mani captures the quiet beauty of an everyday scene through expressive lines, bold shading, and a distinctive monochromatic palette. The composition portrays a seated figure wearing a vibrant red turban, surrounded by loosely rendered vessels and leafy forms. The artist’s spontaneous brushwork and textured charcoal strokes create a sense of movement, depth, and intimate observation.

The subtle contrast between the charcoal tones and the striking red accent adds character and visual balance to the work. Executed on paper, this painting reflects JMS Mani’s expressive approach to form, gesture, and atmosphere, making it a compelling addition to a thoughtfully curated art collection.
